A FRESH MOVE is afoot to topple firebrand leader Akanni McDowall from the leadership perch of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW).
After a no-confidence motion against the NUPW president fizzled last week, DAILY NATION investigations have found that the matter has not ended.
McDowall explained last week Wednesday that the motion had failed to garner the minimum 50 signatures needed to push it forward for consideration.
“The general secretary would’ve written the person who brought it in and said that the no-confidence motion was invalid because it did not have enough signatures . . . . In the union, you require 50 signatures to be able to bring a no-confidence motion against any executive member,” McDowall stated then. (AC)
