SHAMAR SPRINGER, one of the heroes of this year’s World Cup-winning West Indies Under-19 cricket squad, is mourning the death of his father.
And the Barbados Tridents team has offered sincerest condolences to Shamar on the sudden passing of his father, Victor Springer, who became a full-fledged member of the Tridents family after his son was selected in March.
In a press release yesterday, the Tridents noted that the elder Springer was keen to assist the organisation administratively in preparing for the 2016 edition of the Caribbean Premier League and was always an avid supporter of the franchise.
In the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh In February, Springer, 18, introduced the “chest roll” dance and was the star in the team’s stunning semi-final victory over the host country, collecting two for 36 that was followed by a match-winning unbeaten 62 in front of over 10 000 fans at the Shere Bangla Stadium.
