Blind Mr DJ wants all eyes on him

THERE’S NO DOUBT in Granville Mr DJ Carter’s mind that he has a contribution to make to the Crop Over Festival.

He is blind, but the 54-year-old reigning calypso monarch of the National Society of the Blind has no intention of letting his disability hinder him at all.

He is a member of the House of Soca tent this year and if you had walked into the Derrick Smith Auditorium last Sunday night during his performances of Icons and I Done Voting, you might not have known he cannot see and just wondered why he was manoeuvring within the ropes on stage.

“I’m looking forward to performing in House of Soca. I don’t see myself different, the only thing different is that I can’t see,” said Mr DJ. (GBM)
