THE PUBLIC BATTLE involving Rock Hard Cement was fought on two fronts yesterday.
While a Bridgetown magistrate was expressing disappointment that court marshals did not serve Rock Hard Cement Limited and its management with a summons to attend a court hearing yesterday, over 100 employees attached to 15 companies owned by businessman Mark Maloney pledged to support their embattled boss to the end.
The case brought against Rock Hard by Chief Town Planner Mark Cummins was adjourned until June 24, after Magistrate Douglas Frederick said there was no return slip to indicate that summons had been served on the company’s management.
“The marshals have not complied with their duties,” Frederick indicated to officials of the Chief Town Planner’s department headed by Deputy Chief Town Planner George Browne.
Attorney at law Oliver Thomas, of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who is prosecuting the matter on behalf of the chief town planner, acknowledged the delay as he asked the court for a short adjournment. (TS/WILLCOMM)
