Olympic fun ride, walk a success

BARBADOS HAS JOINED the world in celebrating Olympic Day, which falls on Thursday.

A host of physical, cultural and educational activities have been organised by national Olympic committees and international and national sporting federations around the world. The Barbados Olympic Association’s (BOA) first event, an Olympic fun ride, run and walk took place on Saturday at the Olympic Centre.

Six cyclists, two Paralympians and scores of runners and walkers from various national federations participated.

The first cyclist finished 21 minutes after start time while the first runner, Akeem Rowe, clocked in 23 minutes after in his category.

The participants then took part in a team workout.
