MORE than 50 lights on the pylons at Kensington Oval are not working.
A physical check from ground level by the WEEKEND NATION on Tuesday night during the Ballr Cup tri-series match between West Indies and Australia revealed a significant number of unlighted bulbs on each of the four towers.
While West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) cricket operations manager Roland Holder described the state of affairs as disappointing and said the matter had first been drawn to the attention of local authorities towards the end of last month, Barbados Cricket Association chief executive officer Noel Lynch said the quality of the lighting was still adequate.
After a practice match at Kensington on May 25, West Indies team management flagged issues with the lights going off and some bulbs missing, prompting Holder to write to the BCA asking what measures were being put in place to address the shortcomings. (HG)
