‘Sign up or lose’ health coverage

SIGN UP OR LOSE IT.

That’s the advice from general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Roslyn Smith to members regarding their insurance policies.

“I want to alleviate fears and concerns as it relates to the NUPW’s group health plan. The policyholders of the NUPW health plan took a decision that they wanted to have Capita Finance as their brokers and Sagicor as the carrier for the insurance. That decision was taken to council on May 5 of this year and was accepted on behalf of the policy holders,” she said at a press conference at Capita Finance, Collymore Rock, St Michael yesterday.

The issue was part of a recent controversy amongst members of the union, forming part of the basis for an unsuccessful no-confidence motion brought against president Akanni McDowall. (RA)
