THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL (QEH) this weekend could be faced with an “emergencies only” situation due to a shortage of interns.
Last Friday surgical departments cancelled all elective surgeries while other sections of the hospital put off their regular clinics.
In a release to its membership, the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) deemed the development an untenable situation and said those responsible should be held accountable.
“We believe that all persons responsible for this situation should be held accountable, including those in the Ministry of Health, for placing the public of this nation in a situation of completely avoidable adverse risk,” BAMP said. (TS)
