CECIL ORLANDO HARVEY once fought the courts for illegally detaining him and won, but yesterday he held a white flag in surrender to another court even before nine burglary charges against him were read.

The serial burglar, who seemed to have a different meaning for the word shopping, armed himself with a heavy object and smashed the doors of numerous businesses before he entered and went on an unconventional “shopping” spree.

That spree came to a halt yesterday as he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. The six months are in relation to a bond which was breached. In 2012, Harvey was sentenced to two years on a theft charge.

It was revealed yesterday that Harvey, 60, of Constitution Road, St Michael, stole more than $28 000 worth of items from businesses that included I-Exchange, Q Mobile Repair Centre, Home Improvement Hardware Store, Electronic Avenue, Courts Barbados Ltd, Flow Sunset Crest, Wally’s Enterprise Ltd, H&M Boutique and Vista Complex.
