BAJAN BRANDED BOTTLED water imported from Trinidad is causing a stir.

The promotional product which hit local shelves a week ago is being produced by a Trinidadian outfit that has branded the product “Crop Over Water” to celebrate Barbados’ 50th anniversary of Independence.

The product generated discussion on social media last week when Barbadians expressed concern that something branded 50th Independence Pride & Industry was being produced outside the country.

But Niall Mcnish, marketing director of My Destination Weekend, the Trinidadian company behind Crop Over Water explained that they were working on a Crop Over campaign with several Barbados- based cultural organisations, which led to the development of the product.

Mcnish, who told the DAILY NATION that the company anticipated some Barbadians might have reacted negatively, pointed out that his company was a tourism-based marketing company. (AD)
