THE MAJORITY OF severed National Conservation Commission workers have opted to take the money awarded in the judgment which was recently handed down by the Employment Rights Tribunal.
Affected workers met with the National Union of Public Workers for just over an hour this afternoon at the Horatio Cooke Auditorium at the union’s headquarters in Dalkeith, St Michael and president Akanni McDowall said the workers decided to accept the pay-out after the options were explained to them.
McDowall said the union’s attorney, Pat Cheltenham, had advised that the decision could be challenged but that it would take about three years before the case could be heard. The workers, some of whom are still out of work, were retrenched two and a half years ago. (YB)
