WHILE THE DEATH of 21-year-old Romario Lashley was unfortunate, the public must recognise that the police have a job to do.
Member of the Opposition Barbados Labour Party and candidate for Christ Church West, Dr William Duguid, spoke of the difficult job police have, while he was checking in on residents of the community one day after Lashley, who had been wanted in connection with the shooting of a police detective three weeks earlier, was killed by cops.
“It would be much worse if a police officer had become injured in this operation, but we also think the rise in violent crime is of a concern to us,” he said.
“I’m very happy that none of the residents were injured in any way and I think that is a credit to the Police Force. I think they managed the operation efficiently and effectively. They managed to get the person that they needed, and that was it.” (MR)
