THE Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) and the Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) are about to join forces in an effort to get to the root of absenteeism and low productivity within the Barbadian workforce.
Faced with high levels of workers staying home and low morale in some sectors, the two bodies intend to collect empirical data over the next few months in a concerted effort to tackle the problem, and possibly eliminate it.
Head of the BCCI, Eddie Abed, said the status quo could not remain, and something had to be done to tackle absenteeism, which remains a huge problem.
