Merger might not be necessary, says Kellman

MINISTER OF HOUSING Denis Kellman does not appear to be in favour of a merger involving the National Housing Corporation (NHC).

Speaking to the media during a break of the diaspora conference at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday, Kellman said he was hoping that it is one area newly-appointed human resources manager Sheona Kellman could assist with so that they might be able “to convince persons that they might not be a need for amalgamation”.

“One of the things that people must understand is that this minister has been fighting to ensure that NHC is restructured and that the financial position has been improved,” he noted.

The minister admitted that there were ongoing discussions with Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler with regard to the amalgamation of the NHC with the Urban Development Commission, and the Rural Development Commission. (YB)
