BARBADOS CAPTURED two titles at the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation Under-19 Tournament in Aruba last weekend.
Shae Martin and Keshem Moore teamed up to win the boys’ doubles final with a come-from-behind victory over Guyana’s Johnathan Mangra and Narayan Ramdhani 17-21, 21-15, 21-19.
Martin joined with Amanda Haywood to capture the mixed doubles gold medal with a comfortable 21-9, 21-16 win over Narayan Ramdhani and Priyanna Ramdhani.
Both Martin and Haywood, however, had to settle for the silver medal in the singles competition.
Martin had a hard-fought battle with Cesarr Brito Gonzalez of Dominican Republic but lost the boys’ final 21-18, 18-21, 23-21, while Haywood lost the girls’ final 19-21, 16-21 to Bermary Polanco Munoz of Dominican Republic. (HG)
