THIS MAY BE Fareham Hockey Club’s first Barbados International Hockey Festival, but they are no strangers to the island.
The club, which brought 63 members to the Festival, is from Fareham New Hampshire, on the south coast of England and 80 miles south of London.
Club official Shaun Gray said they have a number of members who visit Barbados regularly each year, some who came to the 2007 Cricket World Cup final at Kensington Oval.
“We thought it would be a good thing to bring the guys. We are known for being a club that plays high level national league hockey, but we are also a club where everybody has fun, so actually Barbados was the great place to experience that,” Gray told MIDWEEKSPORT.
