King ready to bounce back

THE KING is down but far from out. Barbados’ top-ranked tennis pro Darian King is determined to come back better than ever, even after being extremely distraught at missing a possible opportunity to finally make the main draw of a Grand Slam.

King, ranked 167 in the world, expressed the sentiment just minutes after blowing a 2-0 lead in the third set of a gut-wrenching loss to Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Nedovyesov in the qualifying rounds of the US Open.

“Yeah, it’s definitely disheartening but I got past a seed this year and then went to three sets with another good player so hopefully I can get over the hump as I will keep working hard and fighting,” said the 24-year-old.
