Water rage

TIRED OF TURNING on their taps and getting nothing but air, while still being charged for water, some residents of Horse Hill, St Joseph, are planning to take their bills and their frustration to the steps of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).

Yesterday, disappointed with the outcome of a meeting between officials from the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) and themselves, one resident said he would be requesting permission from the Commissioner of Police today to picket the BWA’s new Pine headquarters.

Days without running water are nothing new to residents of the north-eastern parish; high water bills, despite the lack of water, are also nothing new. What is new, said Horse Hill, St Joseph resident Andrew Dixon, is the residents’ determination to get some satisfaction.
