Riley out of team

A MAJOR CONTROVERSY is brewing in local table tennis following the omission of national champion Anthonette Riley from the Barbados team set to compete at the Caribbean Championships in the Dominican Republic next month.

The Barbados Table Tennis Association (BTTA) recently announced a men’s and women’s team in which all but one of the six players will be representing Barbados for the first time.

The women’s team comprises Jazel Griffith, Danielle Walton and Janae Lewis. The men’s team includes Tyrese Knight, Marcus Smith and Kristian Doughty.

Doughty is the only one with previous experience at senior Caribbean level having represented Barbados at the Caribbean Championships in St Lucia. He who last represented Barbados at the Caribbean Championships three years ago. (PH)
