Northern Star brightest

THE Barbados Turf Club’s second racing season was highlighted by good, consistent performances from five horses: Northern Star, Lucky Adventure, Indiano Jones, Infrared and Burbon Street.

Pride of place goes to the Mervyn Rollins and Victor Cheeseman-owned Northern Star, which has an extremely bright future.

The Cheeseman-trained colt has all the credentials, like the grand creole Apostle, to dominate the top-class horses.

He won three races and was unfortunate not to become the seventh Triple Crown winner when severely hampered in the first jewel – the Barbados Guineas over 1 570 metres. He ended unplaced, for his only career blemish. (LY)
