More than half the bus fleet ‘down’

WITH THE START of the new school year tomorrow, concerns have been raised as to whether the Transport Board will be able to accommodate the schoolchildren expected to hit the road.

A reliable source has informed the SUNDAY SUN that more than half of the state-run entity’s buses are off the road and in dire need of repairs.

And with the nine-week summer vacation having ended on Friday, he expressed doubts that the Transport Board will be able to facilitate the thousands of children turning out for school tomorrow.

He pointed the SUNDAY SUN to an area on the southern side of the Transport Board’s Weymouth, Roebuck Street, St Michael headquarters, where dozens of buses were parked.
