THE UNIVERSITY of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus (UWI) is hosting its first-ever sports science conference.

Academic coordinator of the Sports Sciences Sports Programme at Cave Hill, Rudolph Alleyne, said the inaugural event entitled Caribbean Sports Conference: The Game Changer Professionalised and Transformed had been established through the addition of the programme to the curriculum over the last few years.

“So out of the sports science bachelor’s and master’s programmes we decided that we needed to have a sports conference that would bring together people from the region and experts and researchers in various areas relating to sport,” Alleyne told NATIONSPORT.

“This was spearheaded as part of that drive and to bring our local and regional people involved in sport up to date with some of the more recent research and discussions surrounding sport as it pertains to sport science,” he said. (RG)
