A POLITICAL SHOWDOWN is looming in the Opposition Barbados Labour Party’s St Michael South Central branch, one which is seeing an experienced politician being challenged by a newcomer.

While former Member of Parliament David Gill (below), 61, says nothing trumps experience, economist Marsha Caddle is telling Labourites that Barbadians deserve real representation. blpvillaroaddavidgill

And after weeks of canvassing in the constituency, the 37-year-old Caddle on Sunday declared her intention to seek the nomination on October 2, which is also being contested by Gill who feels that he would regain nomination for the seat he held from 1999 to 2003.

The development has created tension between St Michael East MP Trevor Prescod and his former colleague, with the two offering some less than complimentary comments about each other. (WILLCOMM)
