King takes swipe at critics

FORMER CALYPSO KING and now Barbados Labour Party (BLP) candidate John King has scoffed at naysayers who say he is making a mockery of local politics by entering the political fray.

His selection as the Opposition candidate for the St Philip West constituency in the next general election elicited comments on social media such as: “What has politics in Barbados come to, now that calypsonians and comedians are entering?”.

“People on social media will tear you to pieces because you can’t answer and because they can hide, [and] it is interesting that even within this community, people will see my nomination as frivolous because I’m not a doctor or a lawyer,” King said. (TG)
