IN THE Olympic Stadium, triple-jumper Christian Taylor is king, but yesterday, he was content to be a humble prince for scores of adoring children from three schools.

The kids of St Catherine Primary, Hilda Skeene Primary and Lester Vaughan Secondary, screamed themselves hoarse at the first sight of the imposing 6 ft 3 in American, winner of triple jump gold at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics.

Everywhere he went, there was magic in the air and a celebration with a difference.

Hilda Skeene provided song, St Catherine Primary greeted him with children waving green and white pom-poms, while at Lester Vaughan, he got a standing ovation from more than 150 children from the time he entered the school hall.

Lester Vaughan was his last stop on his motivational speech ride, but certainly not the least impactful. (MK)
