Cancelled fete a blow for young promoters

ON A DAY when show promoters 246 Finest Entertainment had hoped to be raking in thousands of dollars for “the ultimate dancehall fête” Crop Fusion, featuring international recording artiste Konshens and local stars, everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

So much so that Konshens, the Jamaican singer of this year’s hit single Bruk off Yuh Back suggested that the promoters should pursue legal action so as to retrieve the thousands of dollars they lost as a result of the cancellation of the show which was scheduled for last night at De’Hanger Helipad in Carlisle Car Park, the City.

At an interview at Divi Southwinds, Christ Church yesterday minutes after the event was called off, the headline act Konshens (real name Garfield Spence) said he had been very much looking forward to performing for the people of Barbados, but believed it would be too stressful to push a show at the last minute at an unsightly venue with no electricity or stage properly constructed. (MR)
