AT 5 P.M. THE centre of Tropical Storm Matthew was located near latitude 13.8 north longitude 62.0 west or about 165 miles (265km) west northwest of Barbados.
Matthew is moving toward the west near 18 mph (30km/hr) with maximum sustained winds near 60mph (95km/hr) with higher gusts.
Storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335km) primarily to the north-east of the centre.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1008mb (29.77 inches).
Moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds will continue to affect the island tonight and into the first half of tomorrow.
Further rainfall accumulations of at least two to four inches (50 to 100 millimeters) are possible.
Residents in flood prone areas should continue to take the necessary precautions.
Sea swells of three to four meters (10 to 13 feet) in open water can be expected, hence a small craft warning remains in effect for above normal swells.
