GROCERY PRICES have gone up.

And some Barbadians believe the National Social Responsibility Levy, which was introduced September 1, is to blame.

Based on SUNDAY SUN investigations, items like condensed milk, bread and sugar have become more expensive since the levy was imposed.

During this year’s Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler said the levy could generate annual revenue of $142.1 million. He said the revenue would help fund health care services and the Sanitation Service Authority.
