$1 700 water bill drains away holiday cheer

PENSIONER JOYCE BALTRAM is not looking for much for her birthday this Friday, or even for Christmas.

Her main wish is to have her $1 795.73 water bill and the bold-lettered stamp “due for disconnection” permanently wiped. Throw in a little food for the holidays and she will be contented, at least for now.

The soon-to-be 86-year-old, of 2nd Avenue, Thompson Gap, President Kennedy Drive, St Michael, called in the DAILY NATION yesterday in the hopes of getting another one of her myriad problems resolved.

Life has not been easy for the former snack vendor, who once plied her trade outside the National Stadium and a few other places, since she suffered a stroke five years ago.
