Three charged with cocaine trafficking

A BARBADIAN AND TWO GUYANESE nationals have been arrested in connection with cocaine valued at $350 000.

According to a media release, Devonish Corbin, 47, of Checker Hall, St Lucy has been charged with possess, possession with intent to supply and trafficking cocaine.

Guyanese nationals Dyal Fitzroy Simon, 43 years, and 33-year-old Lennox Maxwell Monah were both charged with conspiracy, trafficking and importation of cocaine.

These offences were reportedly committed at the Bridgetown Harbour, St Michael, and the Cement Plant Jetty, Checker Hall, St Lucy. 

Simon and Monah arrived in Barbados by boat December 19 and it is alleged Corbin collected a bucket containing six taped, wrapped packages containing cocaine.

Corbin was intercepted by members of the Drug Squad who discovered the cocaine during a search. He was arrested, while Simon and Monah were subsequently brought into police custody. The three men were interviewed and charged.

The weight of the drug was seven kilos.  

Corbin, Simon and Monah were all remanded to HMP Dodds when they appeared before Magistrate Douglas Fredericks in the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Saturday.

They are expected to reappear in the Holetown Court on January 5, 2017 in relation to the cases committed in St Lucy area, and on January 20 for the offences committed in St Michael. (PR/SAT)
