IT WAS A NIGHT of reflection, celebration and hope for a new year.
That was the atmosphere on Saturday night as hundreds gathered at the Collymore Rock Church of the Nazarene to say goodbye to 2016 and to welcome 2017. As is customary, many Barbadians chose to welcome the New Year in a house of worship to thank God for lives spared and blessings bestowed.
Reverend David Holder, who leads the popular St Michael church, centred his message on the theme of renewal, reminding those attending that if a man “be in Christ, he is a new creation”.
At the same time, he admonished the congregation that while it was a good thing to make promises to lead better lives, those resolutions made at yearend would come to naught unless people were prepared to follow up on their commitments. (GE)
