ONE OF THE ways being touted as an aid for people to stay competitive on the global market is learning a foreign language.

Thanks to the government of Colombia, in collaboration with the Universidad Externado de Colombia, many more Barbadian public servants are set to get opportunities to learn Spanish

On Friday evening, Colombia’s ambassador to Barbados, Jaime Alberto Acosta, pledged his government’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the island and he gave the assurance that it would sponsor a third instalment of its Spanish Language Programme.

The announcement came as 58 participants sourced from a wide cross section of the public service graduated from the second edition of the programme in a ceremony held at the Horatio Cooke auditorium at the National Union of Public Workers headquarters, Dalkeith Road, St Michael. This brings the total to almost 100 from two instalments. (SDB Media)
