Holder for more solid knocks

JASON HOLDER will take the win, but the Barbados Pride captain is admitting that there were shortcomings in their tense one-wicket victory over Jamaica Scorpions on Monday night.

The hosts clinched an exciting triumph with 12 balls remaining when chasing a hardly daunting target of 191 under the lights at Kensington Oval, but the task was made more complicated by a regular fall of wickets.

“Our shot selection wasn’t the best. Some of our batsmen got out with poor shots. We didn’t think the game through as well as we possibly should. Reflecting on the way our batsmen got out, I think we could have been a lot tighter. We could have held our wickets a lot better than we did,” Holder said.

“Going forward, it is one of the areas we need to improve on. When we get these small targets, we need to knock them off with authority.” (HG)
