IF THE MINISTER OF FINANCE wants to fire Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell, his hands are tied until tomorrow.
That’s when High Court Justice Randall Worrell will rule on whether the temporary injunction he imposed on the Minister Chris Sinckler last Sunday night stopping him from firing the Central Bank boss, will be lifted or maintained.
Accompanied by his legal team of Gregory Nicholls, Renee Butcher and Janice Browne, an upbeat Worrell entered the High Court yesterday afternoon to face off with Solicitor General Jennifer Edwards, QC, and her deputy Donna Brathwaite, QC, representing Sinckler, in two hours of arguments.
In an unexpected twist, the DAILY NATION was informed by top officials in the bank that the embattled governor, while fighting for his job in court, on Tuesday issued a circular to members of the board of directors asking them to attend a board meeting next Thursday. (GE)
