IT’S NOT TABOO

BREAK THE TABOO and put menopause and other “biological issues” experienced by women alongside the chronic non-communicable diseases in any workplace wellness programme.

General secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union, Toni Moore, made the call as she addressed the second day of this year’s Week of Excellence at the BWU’s headquarters at Solidarity House.

And the idea has the wholehearted support of an activist and former president of the National Organisation of Women, Nalita Gajadhar, who later told the MIDWEEK NATION that menopause was an integral part of any woman’s life and should therefore be a component of any workplace wellness policy.

Minister of Labour Senator Dr Esther Byer Suckoo also supported the call. (HLE)
