Creole will win again, says Turf Club CEO

ROSETTE PEIRCE isn’t ready to give up on our creoles.

The Barbados Turf Club’s chief executive officer believes it’s only a matter of time before a locally-bred horse breaks through again and win a the Sandy Lane Gold Cup.

Peirce gave the assurance just moments after the Trinidadian-owned Dorsett repeated to keep the big purse away from local breeders again.

“I think it’s going to happen. I think every year that we don’t win I think that the local breeders are going to step up their game because they realise what they have to do,” said Peirce.

“I think they’re working at it and I am looking forward to the day it happens. It’s been a long time but it’s going to happen. I have no doubt about that. We’re getting closer every year.”
