IT MAY BE TIME to have a look at Barbados’ bashment culture as it is having an adverse effect on schoolgirls.
So says National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) president Shone Gibbs, who briefly spoke to the media at the Parenting in the 21st Century – Media, Money, Music & More workshop at Christ Church Foundation School last Saturday.
“In terms of music, we have been seeing the worrying trend of the behaviour of our girls, especially in recent times. All indications would suggest that it lends from the bashment culture,” Gibbs said.
“So we must relook our music, we must relook what is entering our homes or what our children are exposed to, and parents must be able to vet music on a serious and informed basis to assist their children.” (AD)
