THIS IS THE LEVEL of disrespect the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) continues to show us, the people of this country. An estimated 10 000 to 15 000 marched on March 11 to show disgust about the state of this country and the first thing [its operatives] can say is that “we were paid”.
This administration is more bent on blaming Mia Mottley and the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) than it is on addressing this country, its problems and most importantly, its people.
We don’t need to be paid to stand up for our rights to be treated like a people of great importance. No, we do it out of the pain of our hearts, out of love for our country.
To see that after you, the DLP, promised us, the people of this country, a better life, you have not only [misled us], but did so many things you said you would never do.
For example, the laying off of more than 3 000 people which you said you would never do. This was said by the Prime Minister himself on the news, and I still have the video to prove it. No laying off of teachers, which was done to the surprise of many. And I could go on.
I am saddened, as a member of this country – yes, a member, because I no longer feel like a citizen – at this administration. We need a government who is for the people, and clearly Mia is showing that she is for the people. Yes, the BLP has done a lot of nonsense in the past, but it was always for the people.
Does more than PM
It is not even about the party, it’s about the individual, and clearly Mia (first as a human being) is showing that she feels the pain of the people and has a heart for them. Mia does more than this current Prime Minister and that’s sad because he is the leader.
Do you think it is right that we the people, some of whom put you in power for a better Barbados, should be looked down on like this? We did not vote for such torture.
Strength in numbers is what the Barbadian society is realising, that we can stand together and demand to be treated fairly, like people and of course of some importance.
I have never been for the DLP or the BLP. I have always been for who is doing right by the country, but I am proud to say that today, I am BLP. They will have my vote because they are showing they are for us, the people.
Now instead of fighting to get jobs for people, trying to get the economy back on track, I listened to the debate [on the Estimates] where you guys were fighting to have the ten per cent reinstated to your pockets. Tell me, is that someone for the people?
I am disgusted and very disappointed at the state our country is in . . . . Downgrade after downgrade, what next? Please tell us what next, Mr Prime Minister.
