FORGET GROUP I. Haydn Lewis plans to take Barbados tennis even further.
The country’s most seasoned Davis Cup campaigner is making a full-time return to the ATP tour in an effort to raise the level of his game and get Barbados into the World Group.
Lewis broke the news yesterday after helping to put his side on the brink of returning to Group I next season.
“The main goal for me now is to get Barbados into the World Group. . . . After getting Barbados to Group I it helped me to realise that it is possible to get there but for that to happen I have to be back on the tour playing lots and lots of matches and playing tournaments week in and week out,” explained the 31-year-old veteran.
