Call for equality among markers

THE CARIBBEAN EXAMINATION COUNCIL (CXC) is still mum on the issue of payment of teachers for correcting its School-Based Assessment subjects.

Registrar of the Barbados-based regional examination organisation, Glenroy Cumberbatch, avoided giving a direct answer after he was quizzed on the matter on Tuesday night.

Secondary school teacher Charlotte Alleyne-Greene raised the issue with Cumberbatch following his presentation of a lecture organised by the Barbados Museum at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed.

Alleyne-Greene, who corrects SBAs noted that languages’ teachers are paid to conduct oral examinations which are considered Paper III for those subjects in the same way the SBA is considered Paper III for other subjects. (LK)
