A LOCAL PLANTATION BUSINESS is up in arms over Government’s failure to pay for the compulsory acquisition of a large portion of land at Constant, St George.

The owners of Constant Estates Limited (CEL) are seeing red over the tardiness of payment for the land, which was acquired by Government  in September 2005 for road improvement from Mapp Hill, St Michael to Walkers, St George. That matter is set to be heard by the Supreme Court in November.

CEL also has an issue with not being allowed to develop some of its other lands for residential purposes, with managing director Christopher Robinson claiming the landowners are being “disenfranchised”.

“Constant Estates Limited was prevented from developing its land for the identical purpose Government acquired and developed it for,” a peeved Robinson told the SUNDAY SUN in a recent interview.
