HAVING LOST A long-standing sponsor this season and concerned about poor results in recent seasons, the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) has moved to bolster the beleaguered Barbados Youth teams.

In a move to prevent other school teams from joining Christ Church Foundation and Combermere in the Division 1 championship, the BCA has amended its promotion rule while exercising the right to have the best Under-19 cricketers represent the Barbados Youth.

“From the BCA 2017 season, no school team shall be eligible for promotion beyond the Intermediate Division,” the BCA stated in this season’s Special Conditions and Regulations of Play.

It means that a school winning the Intermediate title won’t be promoted. (EZS)
