CROP OVER and cricket won’t be clashing at Kensington Oval this year, as the historic venue has been reserved for cultural events during the next three weeks.

Just one major cricket match, the final of the Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Tournament, is scheduled for the multi-purpose facility, on July 23.

Barbados will be hosting the Regional Under-15 Cricket Tournament for the first time in the competition’s history but significantly no matches will be played at “The Mecca”.

Cricket West Indies this week unveiled the fixtures for the one-day tournament, which bowls off on July 26 and ends on August 4 but the country’s premier cricket facility, Kensington Oval, wasn’t among the six venues chosen to host matches. (EZS)
