Man accused of ammo possession remanded

AN UMEMPLOYED MAN who was allegedly held by police with a large quantity of ammunition will call HMP Dodds home for the next 28 days.

Rasheed Omar Haynes, 28, of 5th Avenue Alkins Land, St Michael was remanded to prison until September 11 when he appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge of having 50 rounds of unlawful ammunition in his possession on August 12, 2017.

Members of the Anti-Gun Unit were on duty in Fontabelle, St Michael when they observed Haynes standing outside a motor car.

A subsequent search revealed the ammunition in his possession. (RB)
