THE METHODIST CHURCH has established a committee that is discussing the issue of violence and will shortly be putting plans in place to tackle the issue while focusing on developing the youth.

Reverend Arlette Waterman, circuit minister at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, St Philip said, “Our church, our Methodist church has set up a committee to look at such issues and to see how the church can assist.”

Waterman, who chairs the committee, said the group had been meeting monthly for the last few months trying to identify the issues and to prioritise them. One of the areas that they have decided to focus on is schools’ devotions.

“. . . We want to intensify the efforts in order to give the children a better understanding of God’s love. We believe that if persons had a better understanding of God’s love for them there are many things that they would avoid doing,” she said. “Anyone who has love for someone would not want to kill or murder them.” (LK)
