Bakeries rise to occasion

Bakeries across Barbados are meeting their Christmas demand in spite of the ongoing egg shortage.

Recently, the two largest egg producers in the island announced they had each imported 325 000 eggs due to a likely shortage for the holiday season; and, given the odds, bakeries were still able to produce freshly baked goods in a pressing environment.

Marketing manager of Purity Bakeries, Tia Best, said the bakery always approached the Christmas season with a plan and was prepared for any mishap in the industry.

“We arrange early with our supplier, and so far we have been able to meet all of our demands,” said Best. “We are actually on schedule and experience no hiccups sourcing raw materials.” (SB)
