IT MATTERS TO MARIA: Packers residents fed up with six-month leak

For the past six months, the road at Packers, St Patrick’s, Christ Church, has been wet.

An underground burst main has been causing water to settle on the road, and residents are fed up about the situation.

A man said residents had called the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) many times.

“There are at least four persons who work at the Water Authority that live in this district. I even heard one of them saying: ‘I gine call one of the big boys about this and get it fix’, and that was before Christmas,” he recalled.

He said people using the road were now forced to walk on others’ properties to avoid stepping into the water.

“I believe that a lot of water is being wasted. This is six months and nobody has come to repair this burst main,” he added.

When told about the problem, Joy-Ann Haigh, rapid response and communications manager at the BWA, said the matter would be investigated and dealt with by today. (MB)
