ST JOHN’S – Windward Islands Volancoes, sent in to bat by Guyana Jaquars, amassed 286 for seven in their 50 overs in the second day-night semi-final of the West Indies Super50 Cricket Festival at the Coolidge Cricket Ground here Thursday.
The Volcanoes were powered to their total by right-handed No.3 batsman Tyrone Theophile, who finally came good with a maiden List A century.
With a highest score of 37 in 26 previous matches, Theophile, a 28-year-old Dominican, hammered nine fours and four sixes in a career-best knock of 107 off 104 balls.
He shared a fourth-wicket stand of 107 runs in 17.2 overs with all-rounder Kavem Hodge, who batted fluently for 57 off 65 balls.
Theophile and experienced former Barbados captain Kirk Edwards, who made 27 off 52 balls, also featured in a third-wicket stand of 73 runs.
Off-spinner Ramaal Lewis was the most successful bowler for the Jaguars with three for 54 in nine overs. (EZS)
