The St Michael School has done the double while the Christ Church Foundation School has achieved a hat-trick of titles.
This after both schools tied for first position to jointly share the girls’ title at the 2018 Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships which concluded at the National Stadium a short while ago. Both schools finished with 326 points apiece, with many-time queens Scotiabank Springer Memorial taking third place with 300 points and Harrison College in fourth position with 180 points. The Lester Vaughan School placed fifth with 130 points.
St Michael School also retained the boys’ title they won last year, adding the satisfaction of back-to-back wins to their achievement. They took the title with 310.5 points. Foundation placed second with 284 points. Harrison College came third in the boys’ contest with 263.5 points and Queen’s College placed fourth, amassing 175 points.
This is the first time the Martindale’s Road school has ever won both titles in BSSAC. Christ Church Foundation won their third straight girls’ title as the two schools stamped their dominance as the new kings and queens of athletics in Barbados. (AL-F)
