Workers of First Citizens Bank downed tools from as early as 8 a.m. and are currently locked in a closed door meeting with union officials at the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium at Solidarity House.
Barbados Workers’ Union deputy general secretary and director of industrial relations Dwaine Paul has told media the action is part of ongoing negotiations between the bank’s hierarchy in Trinidad and Tobago and workers, dating back to 2016.
He said people should learn to honour gentlemen’s agreements, and not hold hard and fast to an agreement only if it was stated in black and white.
It is not clear at this time if workers will remain off the job for the rest of the day. (RA)
